Family Connections
Those dramatically affected by disasters extend far beyond the geographic region of a tornado, or hurricane. Family members in other parts of the country, or world, are commonly under a state of panic wondering if their friends and loved ones have survived the destruction.
With normal means of communications unavailable, our satellite-based Family Connections database allows those who are safe from harms way to send word to their loved ones. By quickly entering phone numbers or email addresses, our system will immediately and automatically notify loved ones that a message is waiting for them from someone affected by the disaster. Loved ones will be directed to the Family Connections website where they can quickly retrieve and respond to those messages.
Friends and family can also post bulletins via the world wide web, asking for help in locating their loved ones. These bulletins can be reviewed by survivors and staff at the disaster site and any information available can be shared quickly and easily.
The Family Connections system will reconnect friends and loved ones through our website beginning in 2008.
